Structural Restoration

Back

735 North Water Street

History: After initial investigation it was found that the structural steel support system of the building had begun to oxidize and delaminate causing failure of the surrounding terra cotta pieces. All new I-beams and supporting angles were replaced around the entire 440 foot cornice.

Scope: Complete removal of original structural steel support system for the projected terra cotta cornice. Remove and save all decorative terra cotta units.

Challenge: Removal and replacement of entire structural steel support system from rooftop access.

Result: New galvanized structural steel support structure with flashings and weeps incorporated in the terra cotta cornice.
