Stronger the Second Time Around - Concrete Restoration

Concrete Restoration

Back

The Victor Lawson Tower at the Chicago Theological Seminary

History: As part of a large multi-disciplined restoration projection (see Stone Restoration), the tower had two large concrete slabs at the 180 and 187 foot levels.

Scope: Investigate, repair and/or replace structural concrete slabs at tower lantern area.

Challenge: Removal and replacement of concrete slabs above open area of tower. The slabs were tied into the supporting columns that comprised the architectural elements of the tower.

Result: A restored concrete slab on both top and bottom with installation of additional steel for structural strengthening.
